Kae Tempest announces fifth album ‘Self Titled’ and drops new single ‘Know Yourself’

Kae Tempest is officially back! The musician, poet and author has shared the news that he will be releasing his fifth studio album, ‘Self Titled’, on 4th July via Island Records. The album announcement comes alongside the release of new single, ‘Know Yourself’, which is accompanied by a reflective music video set in a barbershop.

“I love this song,” Kae has said of the new track. “It samples a lyric I wrote years ago, where my younger self is talking to their younger self. A dialogue between selves across time, in real time. Or maybe I could put that simpler – when I was young I sought help from my older self. I came into my head, I told myself to know yourself,” he added.

The forthcoming record (which features 12 tracks, and acts as a follow up to 2022’s ‘The Line Is A Curve’) is said to explore Kae’s inner self as an artist - and as a person. The multi-talented artist worked with Grammy winning producer Fraser T Smith on the record, which also features guest appearances from the likes of Neil Tennant, Young Fathers, Connie Constance, and Tawiah.

This year is set to be the biggest yet for Kae, who’s just off the back of a headline performance at 2025’s BBC 6 Music Festival in Manchester.
