Killer Mike talks ‘Run The Jewels 3’: “we want it out this year”
The duo are aiming for a 2016 release for the “darker, harder” new album.

In a new interview, Killer Mike has revealed that Run The Jewels have their sights on a 2016 release for their incoming third full-length.
Speaking to HipHopWired, Mike also promised that the duo’s incoming third album would be a “darker, harder” release than 2014’s ‘Run The Jewels 2’. “I would like to be finished by July 7,” he revealed in the chat. “I would like to ball on the 4th. I think we’ll be done real soon. People know when we say soon, we’re trying to get it out. We want it out this year.”
“I’m just smoking weed, eating ‘shrooms, watching Big Trouble In Little China everyday,” he continued when quizzed on his preparations. “You know what we’re doing, we’re going zany. We’re going dark. I think we have some stuff that will touch your soul.”
Back in March, RTJ revealed that they were “halfway done” with their new record, before taking to Instagram to tease a snippet of a new track shortly after. A full new’un, titled ‘Scenes’, opened their recent Coachella performance.
