Kurt Vile, The National, Warpaint and more contribute tracks to new voting awareness campaign
‘Songs For Swing Left’ aims to raise awareness of voting Democrat in swing cities.
Kurt Vile, Matt Berninger from The National, Warpaint and Cass McCombs are among the US indie stars who have contributed tracks to ‘Songs For Swing Left’.
Aimed at raising awareness for voting Democrat in swing cities, the compilation features a combination of original tracks and re-recordings and is available to download for free on Bandcamp.
Each artist also precedes their contribution with their own message about the forthcoming midterm elections, which take place on November 6th. Currently, the House of Representatives has a Republican majority. If the midterms lead to a change in balance and a resulting Democrat majority, this could have a huge amount of sway in the amount of power held by Trump and could even potentially lead to an impeachment trial.
Other musicians involved include Parquet Courts’ Andrew Savage, Benjamin Booker, Lo Moon and Odessa.
