London artist Kwabs has confirmed that he’s been working with SOHN on new material which’ll eventually amount to a debut album.
With his first release tentatively due out in late 2014 / early 2015, the songwriter revealed in an interview with DIY that he’s “been back at the grindstone” with the Austrian producer, who helped produced his early singles.
“The album will definitely show a continuation of where we left off, in some respects,” he confirmed. “I’m looking forward to having people hear [the album]. It’s a continuation of a really important partnership. It needs to be in there. So I feel really good about that.”
Speaking at Latitude 2014, Kwabs stressed that the most important aspect of the rest of the year was showcasing his music to a new audience. “I want to get outside of London as much as possible, test out the material and see what flies,” he said. “I want to work my showman muscle, as it were!”
A 2014 highlight arrived when Kwabs performed on Later… With Jools Holland. His television debut sparked a surge of attention. “What I find interesting is there was a different demographic of person coming up to me in the street and saying they’d heard my music.”
Catch-up with Kwabs’ Jools performance below. He plays Brighton Haunt (11th October) and London Koko (16th October).
