Kwamie Liv and Angel Haze share video for ‘Pleasure This Pain’
The animated video is co-directed by Liv and her friend Baby Duka - who frequently collaborate together on comics.
Kwamie Liv and Angel Haze have shared a new animated video for collaboration ‘Pleasure This Pain,’ which premiered on DIY last month. The video is co-directed by Liv with her friend Baby Duka. The two previously worked together on a cartoon series called Sunday Strip.
Though the new video ends in destruction, Kwamie Liv and Angel Haze actually got along a storm IRL as soon as they were introduced. Meeting through a shared label, they ended up discussing creative ideas in a lengthly skype call, and eventually releasing a song together. “It was an unexpected collaboration,” Haze told Paper. ” We share the same management and somehow found ourselves on a four-hour Skype call that then inspired Kwamie to start the song.”
“I’ve always wanted to bring it full circle somehow and breathe moving form into the drawings,” Kwamie Liv said, speaking about her existing comic work, and turning them into animations for ‘Pleasure This Pain.’ “It’s always been at the back of my mind lingering like some ideal creative challenge.” This, she adds, “felt like the right moment. We wanted to create a limitless playground that Angel and I could live in for that song.”
