La Dispute Team Up With 826michigan Through Releasing ‘Conversations’

La Dispute have unveiled plans to team up with the non-profit organisation 826michigan, and will be raising money by selling 150 packets containing their ‘Conversations’ package.

826michigan is a ‘non-profit organisation dedicated to helping kids with writing and self-expression.’ To support the organisation, the band will sell 150 limited edition ‘Conversations’ packets at their upcoming US shows.

The packets contain an array of materials, including a zine of polaroids taken on tour and during the recording process, a poster, postcards, and a collection of poems and short stories written by 826michigan students.

‘Conversations’ is also an audio interview with La Dispute’s lead singer Jordan Dreyer, ‘about the stories and themes presented in ‘Wildlife’. The interview is also coupled with movements from Chad’s “Mixtapes” (which were ideas recorded on a dictaphone that would later shape some of the songs on Wildlife). Everything is open for interpretation by the listener, of course, but it does give a little more insight into the concept of the record.’

For more information, visit La Dispute’s website. Each packet is priced at $20 and all of the proceeds will go to 826michigan.

DIY recently interviewed Jordan Dreyer about their latest album ‘Wildlife’, and he offered the following insight into the album as a whole: ‘For me, it was more like, in general, it was capturing how it feels to be a twenty-something in a place we haven’t figured out. To be affected by your surroundings and your personal relationships and to come to terms with things.’

‘For me, that was what was occurring around. Those were stories that I heard from people in my hometown, and I think that’s why a lot of the record - as a whole - is based around that decision, and based upon those factual stories. To help prolong an impact that they had on me and recognising that, whether or not something happens directly to you, it effects you, especially when it’s in such close proximity and it’s so much apart of your life, and the people around you’s lives. Those are all stories that happened really close to my home, all of our homes, so it felt right to talk about it.’

La Dispute are currently on tour in the US, and will be heading to Europe this summer with Hot Water Music.
