Lapalux shares new track ‘Flickering’
The latest cut from ‘Ruinism’ features Icelandic singer JFDR.
Back in April, British producer Lapalux announced that he’d
be releasing his new album ‘Ruinism’ through Flying Lotus’ label Brainfeeder on
30th June.
After sharing ‘Rotted Arp’ featuring Louisahhh, he’s now
shared another sweeping, dreamlike new cut from the album. ‘Flickering’
features vocals from Icelandic singer Jófríður Ákadóttir, known as JFDR, member
of the bands Samaris, Gangly and Pascal Pinon and one of Björk’s
current favourites.
Speaking of the collaboration, Jófríður said in a statement:
“Stu [Lapalux] and I got together in London when I had just run out the door in
Iceland with my laptop and passport - and literally nothing else - so I was in
a perfect state of chaos, freedom and exhaustion […] The tune came together
quite quickly, the only rule I got from Stu was that it couldn’t be about
‘love’. I really like the result, it has a perfect balance of that
melancholia-but-you-still-keep-on-going feeling”.
Tomorrow, Lapalux kicks off a trio of European dates at Mick’s Garage in London. Over the next few days, he’ll also be heading to Paris and Berlin.
