Laura Marling shares tender new single ‘Child of Mine’
The singer’s latest offering doubles as the lead track from her forthcoming new album ‘Patterns In Repeat’.

Laura Marling has shared the opening track from her forthcoming new album, ‘Patterns In Repeat’.
‘Child of Mine’ is the third preview of her imminent eighth album, which is set for release of on 25th October via Chrysalis/Partisan Records, with the track following previously-released singles ‘Patterns’ and ‘No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can’. The record, which will follow on from 2020’s ‘Song For Our Daughter’, finds Laura reflecting on family dynamics, generational links, and the ever-evolving nature of womanhood following the birth of her (actual) daughter last year.
Her tender new offering doubles as the catalyst for her most recent output, originally written by Laura while, as she explains, “bouncing my daughter in her bouncer when she was four weeks old. I hadn’t sat down to write. It’d been a while since I’d picked up the guitar, just to pass the time, so maybe that did the trick. I wrote the lullaby soon after and thought ‘OK, maybe I could make a record this year’.”
