Listen: Death Grips Unveil ‘Government Plates’ Album, Give It Away For Free
Controversial meta-punks strike again with a new free download.
For all of 2013’s insanities, no year was going to be complete without something ridiculous coming out of the Death Grips camp.
This time without any major label to offend, or indeed any computer screens to haunt with phallic symbols, Zach Hill and co’s follow-up to the controversial ‘NO LOVE DEEP WEB’ has come in the form of a free download, again. The whole record’s been uploaded to the band’s Youtube channel, with ‘Government Plates’ (that’s the title - artwork; right) being announced on Death Grips’ Facebook page.
Although it’ll take a while to digest, there’s no doubting this record contains a) the band’s most batshit crazy song titles to date and b) some seriously futuristic electronic elements that hadn’t been so exacted on their previous albums.
Death Grips have spent the best part of 2013 in the studio, but up until now it’s been a year remembered for faux festival appearances and ‘purposeful’ no-shows. This could be a way of setting the record straight.
