Listen: Gent Mason Streams New ‘Head’ Track

is the second promising name to be coddled and raised up on the values of Aesop, the label that brought us SOHN - now signed to 4AD - at the end of 2012.

This guy’s approach is a funkier, more soulful slant than SOHN’s electronic wall of sound stance. ‘Head’ links up with previous track ‘Eden’ in previewing a debut EP out 7th October on 12th.

Slap bass gives a steely stare to shape-shifting synthetics, drifting in and out of focus in a quickfire rush. The odd, romanticised lyric seeps into the foreground, but it’s largely an abstract, head-spinning piece that gives more clues than fully-formed conclusions.
