Listen: HUNTAR Streams Debut Track ‘Expectations’

South London artist skews R&B in a debut that consists of 2% honkytonk piano.

HUNTAR

is the guise being used by a new Peckham, South London crooner whose debut ‘Expectations’ track does everything but look back. In meshing together longing R&B-indebted vocals, playful electronics and even the odd dash of honkytonk piano, he ends up coining something determinedly future-gazing.

There’s zero information to run with beyond the song, bar the ‘edgy’ press shot of him looking lost on a motorway. What’s clear is that along with Raleigh Ritchie and on the other side of the world, Chet Faker, HUNTAR is up there in making the mind-bogglingly complex sound effortless.
