Listen: Lulu James Shares ‘Beautiful People’ Free Download
Geordie newcomer is giving away a slice of ’21st Century Soul’.
Newcastle’s most unstoppable prodigy since Alan Pardew’s temper, Lulu James, has shared the first track from her new EP. ‘Beautiful People’ is her first 2014 effort, following on from a barrage of ’21st Century Soul’ numbers like ‘Sweetest Thing’ and ‘Step by Step’.
Previously Lulu would flick a futuristic switch, sharp-edged vocals being wrapped up in murky production. ‘Beautiful People’ doesn’t deviate - it’s about as 2014 as writing a dissertation about selfies, and it’s all about a brilliantly grubby closing minute, where bass notes resemble earthquakes.
The track’s being given away as a free download.
