Warp signed producer patten’s experimental methods don’t quite stop short at distinct electronic reinterpretation, however fancy that sounds. On his website, there’s a series of symbols, some leading to more symbols, some leading to actual music.

The final piece in the jigsaw is a snowflake symbol. Click there (and then on the word ‘Stream’) and you’ll discover the new album ‘ESTOILE NAIANT’ in its entirety. Placed against a stark one-coloured backdrop that occasionally changes, it’s a stubborn match to his frenetic, forceful routine. In patten’s own words, it’s a ‘custom-designed full screen experience that slowly fades through various points in the colour spectrum according to ever shifting algorithms – at times right on the edge of perception.’
