News Listen: Speedy Ortiz Preview New EP With ‘American Horror’
Old school horrorshow features on the ‘Real Hair’ EP.
There's a reason why Speedy Ortiz are being talked about as a US underground act getting ready to break big. Their 'Major Arcana' debut was one of 2013's word of mouth successes - from excitable blog kids to members of Peace, everyone had something to say about it - and their follow-up follows hot on the heels. Released on Carpark Records 11th February, 'Real Hair' adds further life to Sadie Dupuis and co.'s cause, especially when it comes to a track like 'American Horror'.
Drenched in early 90s grunge staples, it soaks itself through before proceeding to become arguably Speedy Ortiz's most breakneck, instant song to date. Sadie leads with vocals at the very top of the mix, so high they're practically reaching out for the road trip she cites in the lyrics.
Listen to Speedy Ortiz's 'American Horror' below, and don't even think about getting inspired and watching the Carrie remake. It's not a good idea.
