Listen to Fall Out Boy’s new track ‘Immortals’
The band’s latest offering will appear on the soundtrack for Disney’s forthcoming superhero film, Big Hero 6.
Over the last eighteen months, Fall Out Boy have kept themselves bloody busy. Not only have they made a huge comeback, released their fifth album ‘Save Rock And Roll’ and recorded their rough-around-the-edges punk EP ‘Pax Am Days’ in-between touring the world, they’re now throwing out standalone tracks like there’s no tomorrow.
Having released their newest single ‘Centuries’ last month, the four-piece are now turning their hands to movie soundtracks. Sort of. The latest track to come from the band, titled ‘Immortals’, doubles as part of the soundtrack for forthcoming Disney film Big Hero 6 - as inspired by the Marvel comic book series - and it sound as massive as the name implies.
“When we were approached to write music to be included in the film Big Hero 6 it was not something we took lightly,” bassist Pete Wentz revealed in his personal blog, regarding the birth of the song. “We have never done that before. So we went over to Disney and met with the directors, Disney music and animating department. They explained the story to us. It was insane how much it lined up with the way our band saw the world…”
“We returned and saw some storyboards and some early animations…” he goes further. “We then went and wrote a song to a specific scene but tried to capture the spirit of the film. This is something we have been working on very hard and close with the filmmakers - I cant wait for you to see the movie and how “Immortals” fits into it.”
