Hold it down
Listen to Jamie xx and Four Tet’s collaborative Radio 1 Essential Mix
Aired last night, the two London-based hot-properties took their eclecticism to Radio 1. After getting stuck in a lift.
Last night saw the unveiling of Four Tet and Jamie xx’s collaborative Radio 1 Essential Mix, recorded a few weeks back by the two London-based hot properties in dance music. When heading to the BBC to record it, however, the two managed to get stuck in a lift (evidence below). Clearly taxpayer-funded transportation systems hold little regard for hotly tipped producers.
The broadcast came following a week that saw Jamie xx’s long-awaited album plans finally hit the street, with the announcement that ‘In Colour’, the producer’s first solo full-length, would be released on June 2nd via Young Turks. In addition, the producer dropped three new tracks, ‘Alba’ (which sees a limited edition 7” release for Record Store Day), ‘Loud Places’ featuring xx band mate Romy Madley-Croft, and ‘Gosh’.
All three of the aforementioned Jamie xx new cuts got an airing as part of the mix, along with two as-yet-unreleased new Four Tet collaborations with Champion and Designer. Caribou, Koreless, Roots Manuva and Throwing Snow all received an airing too. Listen to the full mix over on the iPlayer website.
