Listen: Yuppies Preview Debut Album With ‘Hitchin A Ride’

On paper, the big draw for Yuppies is that they’re signed up to Parquet Courts member Andrew Savage’s Dull Tools label for the release of a debut LP (out 15th September Stateside).

The real draw is that Yuppies are a frenetic, fully-charged force from Omaha, US. The three songs previewing their first full-length are uptight, filled to the brim with frustrations. Like Parquet’s own ‘Light Up Gold’ release, annoyances about work, everyday situations, are all absorbed and compressed into one angered piece, fit to burst with rage.

‘Hitchin A Ride’ gets by on a chant of ‘sir, I’d rather be drowning next door’, which gives a pretty clear indication as to what Yuppies are all about. There’s also the restless ‘What’s That?’ and the fresh-faced ‘A Ride’. Stream all three below and keep and eye or two on Yuppies.
