Little Simz finds contentment on new ‘Lotus’ preview ‘Free’
The rap phenomenon’s next LP is due to arrive in May.

Little Simz has offered up a second taste of what to expect from ‘Lotus’, pairing lush production and sweeping strings with a love-fuelled flow on new single ‘Free’.
Originally penned as a poem, the track mediates on the blurred relationship between love and fear, epitomising her forthcoming sixth album’s exploration of renewal and growth (as symbolised by its titular lotus flower).
Slated for release on 9th May via AWAL, the highly anticipated record was introduced last month via ‘Flood’ - a powerful collab with Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly that also served as an intriguing entry point into the visual world of ‘Lotus’.
What’s more, Simz has also recently been announced as the 2025 curator of The Southbank Centre’s contemporary music festival Meltdown, where the likes of The Streets, Sasha Keable, Lola Young, Ghetts, Jon Bapiste and of course Simz herself will perform over its 11-day duration.
You can find out more about Meltdown here, and check out ‘Free’ for yourself below.
