Local Natives announce new album ‘Sunlit Youth’ and a ma-hoo-sive world tour
After teasing at a return, the group have announced a September release for their next record.
After dropping the odd bit and the odd bob, Local Natives are properly back, with new album ‘Sunlit Youth’ set for an autumn release.
The follow-up to 2013’s ‘Hummingbird’ is set for release via Loma Vista / Infectious Music, and is being trailed by ‘Villainy’, a lush and sweeping cut which recieved its first spin as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1.
“A lot of the excitement in making this new album came from discovering how to make songs in different ways,” the band’s Ryan Hahn explains. “You start thinking, ‘What do I want to hear?’ Forget about what we’ve done and what people expect. This is a song that I would want to hear. Lyrically, ‘Villainy’ is about realising that you have the ability to change your situation, that you can start again everyday. We applied that to how we made music this time around. We wanted all the new songs to have a different energy, to challenge ourselves to do something different each time.”
Sounds intense, tbh.
