London’s Buffalo Bar to close before the end of 2014

London’s Buffalo Bar has announced that it is set to close before the end of 2014.

Its final event will take place on New Years Eve, serving as a “fundraiser” for staff who have lost their jobs with immediate effect.

The venue has served as a mainstay for low-key independent shows and debut gigs from new bands. Based in Highbury and Islington, the venue’s played host to shows from the likes of Art Brut, The Subways and DIY’s We Are The Physics.

As well as a New Year’s Eve event, Buffalo Bar will be hosting special one-off shows, beginning with The Subways on 3rd December.

A statement from the owners reads:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the imminent closure of the Buffalo Bar.

We have been served a very short notice period from our new landlords, after being here for over 14 years. They remain undecided what to do with our space. It will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Make of that what you will.

So, after all this time, we will be hosting our final event on New Years Eve, 2014.

This night will serve as a fundraiser for our full time staff, who find themselves without a job just before Christmas.
