Lovejoy cover Beabadoobee’s ‘The Perfect Pair’ for Spotify Singles project

Fresh from performing an intimate set for fans at Spotify’s Our Generation event last weekend, Lovejoy have released their new Spotify Singles project.

The songs - released as part of Spotify’s Our Generation playlist - include a stripped-back version of their recent single ‘Call Me What You Like’, as well as a cover of beabadoobee’s ‘The Perfect Pair’.

Speaking about the project, the band told us: “We chose ‘Call Me What You Like’ from our upcoming EP ‘Wake Up & It’s Over’. We really enjoyed re-recording it in a more stripped back style.”

The quartet also chose to cover beabadoobee’s ‘The Perfect Pair’, a track from 2022’s ‘Beatopia’ album. Explaining their choice, Lovejoy told us, “We’ve all been huge admirers of Beabadoobee for a while now and love the melody of this song, so it was great to give it our own Lovejoy twist.”.

Brighton four-piece Lovejoy are also preparing to release their next EP ‘Wake Up & It’s Over’ on 12th May. It follows their previous releases, ‘Are You Alright’ and ‘Pebble Brain’, both EPs that came out in 2021.

Speaking about their recent intimate fan performance - which took place at Spotify’s Our Generation pop-up in Shoreditch on Friday - the band have told DIY: “Playing these tracks in such an intimate fan setting was really exciting and we can’t wait for all of our fans to hear our EP in full. Thanks to the team at Spotify for having us.”
