Earlier today, DIY Class of 2015 star Marika Hackman shared her re-working of Christian hymn ‘O Come, Come Emmanuel.’

Lifted from a festive 28-song mixtape compiled by Daisy Digital to raise funds for breast cancer awareness organisation Coppafeel, Hackman’s choice of song is completely in keeping with her usual brand of haunted folk.

Unveiled at the end of an impressive year that’s seen her tour with the likes of Alt-J and Antlers, ‘O Come, Come Emmanuel’ is a devastating combination of softly-spoken vocals and delicately-picked strings and acts as a ghostly and auspicious preview of what to expect from her forthcoming debut album ‘We Slept At Last’ which is due for release on 16th February via Dirty Hit.

Marika Hackman is in DIY’s Class of 2015 - read the magazine interview and watch an exclusive DIY session.
