Matt Maltese announces sophomore album ‘Krystal’
He’s also shared lead single ‘Rom Com Gone Wrong’ and its accompanying video.
It’s been over a year since Matt Maltese dazzled us with the forlorn romanticism of his debut album ‘Bad Contestant’, and now we finally have a date for the follow-up!
Announcing his second album ‘Krystal’ today, it’ll be out on 8th November via 7476, and the 22-year-old crooner has shared lead track ‘Rom Com Gone Wrong’ with an accompanying video to get us even more excited.
Directed by Craig Roberts, who is best known for his lead role in the Richard Ayoade penned and Alex Turner soundtracked Submarine, it’s a dreamy vid shot on a Pride & Prejudice-esque set that takes a lols look at the behind the scenes process of making a music video.
“I tried writing some music for one of Craig’s films which inadvertently introduced him to my music and we struck up an online friendship.” Matt explains. “We realised we both have this kind of awkward sense of humour which lent itself well to a video for Rom Com Gone Wrong’. The idea was to create a sort of ‘making of a music video’ music video where I play the part of someone who’s disillusioned with their own music video and doesn’t get on with the director. Basically a music video gone wrong.”
