Midlake Confirm Tim Smith Departure, Announce New Album

In announcing their new album ‘Antiphon’ - the follow-up to 2010’s ‘The Courage of Others’ - Midlake have also confirmed that lead vocalist and songwriter Tim Smith has left the band.

Stated on their official site alongside some new artwork and design, the Texas-raised, Bella Union signings declare: ‘The time passed has brought progression, changes, hope and joy’, announcing their new record due out ‘this fall’ before throwing in the info-nugget about ‘the departure of Tim Smith from Midlake in November 2012’.

Information on Smith’s departure is scarce. A wikipedia entry claims that he left to pursue ‘his career in ornithology’.

”Antithon’ represents an ultimate genesis both musically and spiritually’, continues the triumphant statement on Midlake’s site.

Further release details on ‘Antithon’ are yet to be announced.
