Mini Mansions on Alex Turner appearance: “If he’s ever in the same town, he’ll come on”

Last night, the Arctic Monkeys frontman joined the band at The Lexington to perform on their track ‘Vertigo’.

Last night, Mini Mansions hit the capital for a sold out headline show at The Lexington in London, and they had a special guest in tow.

Having apparently spent most of the night lurking in the corners of the venue, Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner soon took to the stage and joined the trio as they showcased their new offering ‘Vertigo’.

Speaking to DIY the morning after the night before, the band confirmed that him joining the band on stage simply came down to the fact that he was in town. “It was just that he was here,” the band’s Zach Dawes explained. “That’s how it kinda always has been since we did the tour with them, and how it hopefully always will be. If he’s ever in the same town, he’ll come on, do a little dance and have some fun.”

Turner previously joined the band live when the pair were touring the US together back in October, during their slot at Comerica Theatre, Phoenix.

The band also admitted that the UK holds a rather special place in their hearts, and their performance last night only went further to prove that.

“Yeah, the audience last night was amazing,” Dawes told us, before his bandmate Michael Shuman chipped in. “Zach mentioned this earlier but our first headline show in London, when we did our first record, was kinda the first time that it was a sold out show and the kids were singing all of the lyrics to our songs. We never really had that in the States so I think we have a love for London because of that. Coming back and doing the same thing last night was amazing.”

Mini Mansions are gearing up to release their new album ‘The Great Pretenders’ - on which ‘Vertigo’ appears - on 23rd March through T Bone Burnett’s Electromagnetic Recordings/Fiction Records. They’ll also be returning to the UK to support Royal Blood later this year.
