Fast-rising singer, rapper and producer Miso Extra has today shared a fresh track, ‘R10’, taken from her upcoming EP ‘MSG’ (due on 18th August via Transgressive). It’s a follow up to recent release ‘Space Junk’, and features R&B tinged beats overlaid with understated bars.

Explaining the track, Miso Extra says: “It’s about exploring the balance between self-confidence and arrogance. The difficulty in practising humility. The song title is taken from one of the lyrics, ‘R10 level elite, dancing feet’, which is in reference to the footballer Ronaldinhio who is famously known as R10 and whose goal celebration was often a dance”.

Her new material sees Miso Extra step into herself and her artistry with confidence, having started working on music of her own during 2020’s lockdown. “A lot of the music is my observations on self-reflecting. It’s the form of self-talk”, she explains. “Being part Japanese and British, it’s trying to marry that gap of being Asian but not Asian enough and being Western but not Western enough. It’s trying to toe that line constantly”.
