Oneohtrix Point Never announces new album ‘Garden of Delete’

Daniel Lopatin revealed the details in an imaginary interview with an alien called Ezra. As you do.

Oneohtrix Point Never has announced his new album ‘Garden of Delete’ in a fairly bizarre fashion - an imaginary interview with an alien called Ezra.

Daniel Lopatin updated his website to display a pdf document titled ‘To The Fans’. The document starts with strange letter from Oneohtrix Point Never, explaining how he became friends with “a humanoid alien stuck in an infinite loop of molting puberty caused by enigmatic stuff beyond comprehension.” A questionnaire leads to Ezra’s blog.

In the fictional interview, alien Ezra asks about specific tracks, like the “depressing ballad ‘Animals’” and dark bathroom inspired ‘Sticky Drama’. The album name is ‘Garden of Delete,’ and is out in November. Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden - who he supported on tour - are both influences.

“The record is finished,” says Oneohtrix Point Never, answering a question about the album’s timeline. “I’ve spent most of the summer thinking about how I want to present it. I started writing in January, and wrapped up in July. It’ll be out in November. It’s called Garden of Delete or G.O.D. for short. The R thing is over.”
