Orchards announce double A-side single, ‘Young’ / ‘Mature Me’

The band play DIY’s stage at New Colossus next month.

Angular Brighton bunch Orchards have announced details of a new single.

The group - who are also heading to New York next month to play DIY’s stage at New Colossus festival - release ‘Young’ / ‘Mature Me’ on 29th March.

The A-side, ‘Young’, is streaming now.

“I suppose at the heart of it, ‘Young’ is about unrequited love, but a love that you’ve learned with hindsight wasn’t right for you in the first place,” explains vocalist Lucy Evers. “It’s about wanting to go back to that initial moment and live in it. The hardest and most rewarding part to write was the spoken-word section. Poetry has always been something I adore but never thought I’d be able to combine with music, but now here it is!

“We all slowly fell in love with the song over the recording process, exploring the possibilities of it and really looking at how we could knock our songwriting and musicianship up a gear.”

After New Colossus - and SXSW - the band tour the UK.
