Oscar Sheller knows a thing or two about singing properly, hitting every note without a second thought. Classically trained, he’s so far shunned this knowhow for direct, sometimes a bit pitchy, baritoned alt-pop gems.
His latest is ‘Kitchen Song’, a track presumably coined in a room of the same name. It’s sweet, to-the-point and apparently recorded in Brighton. The one-off track follows his recent ‘146b EP’, which came headed up by the delightful ‘Sometimes’.
Even if he was bursting out note after note of flawless pop on top of this track, Oscar would still be doing a ruddy good job. As it stands, his deep-pitched newbie works a treat.
See Oscar live at this year’s Knee Deep Festival.
