Oyinda streams new single, ‘What Still Remains’
Nigerian singer’s second effort puts life in dramatic songwriting.
Earlier this year, London via New York artist Oyinda’s struck up on the scene with her masterful ‘Rush Of You’ debut. Then followed a debut gig at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival no less, and her slick, genre-fusing ability’s been given another jolt with new single ‘What Still Remains’.
Oyinda’s latest effort proves that strings don’t just have to play a bit-part in adding drama to sweeping songwriting. Beyond synth sobs and fatal chimes, there’s a simple but affecting string line breaking out in the background.
This being her second track to date, the Nigerian singer’s already proving a dab hand at making emotionally-led pop sound like something vital, not just an exercise in expression.
