PARTYBABY explode into life with ‘EVERYTHING’S ALL RIGHT’

California newcomers take the best bits of FIDLAR and beloved Tony Hawk’s soundtracks to create something fizzy with invention.

There’s been a strong thirst for a band like PARTYBABY. Murky blog pop with zero meaning has had its time. Now it’s the turn of ferocious, bloodthirsty noise - the kind that’s rich with invention and curveballs.

Enter this California force. PARTYBABY’s first song, ‘EVERYTHING’S ALL RIGHT’, is so many things at once. It’s a relentlessly charged beast, but it also ducks and dives into new places without warning. Like FIDLAR with a death-wish, they pummel the senses for thirty harsh seconds. But then it all breaks down, a catty chant of “if you don’t feel like dying, I can wait a long, long time” stealing the spotlight. From silence to bitter decibel-breakers in a matter of seconds, this is a song that surprises as much as it swarms.

Just when it looks to have showed its hand, the best part arrives at the end. Going full-blown Weezer, it gives nods to Tony Hawk’s soundtracks that have since been buried in the bottom drawer. And instead of getting by on mere nostalgia, it paves the way for huge things. Whoever PARTYBABY are and whatever their end-goal is, the ball is in their court. Marrying fun and don’t-give-a-shit menace, they’ve the makings of something special.

We’ve got the first play of their “introduction” video below. Download the song here. Scour their graffiti-drenched Instagram while you’re at it, too.
