Premiere: Listen: Moon Gangs Previews Debut EP With ‘II’

One glimpse of his formidable beard confirms that when he sets his mind to it, Will Young is capable of putting everything into a specific task. Take Moon Gangs for example, a bubbling up project that mixes heart-pummelling electronics with giant, overarching atmospherics. If Young’s mission was to put infinite fear and joy into the space of one recording, he’s succeeding with debut a self-titled debut EP.

New song ‘II’ cements Moon Gangs’ way of being: What begins as a calming, cinematic recording soon morphs into a tense instrumental. In a live setting, this is the kind of thing that’d be met with giant plumes of smoke and piercing laser lighting. Both terrifying and a strange source of comfort, ‘II’ is all about a fearsome balance between two extremes.
