Premiere: Listen: MS MR Remix The Naked And Famous’ ‘Hearts Like Ours’

The Naked And Famous’ ‘In Rolling Waves’ album arrived last September, at the tailend of a blistering summer, but like all triumphant arms-aloft pop records, these things tend to get a new lease of life when the seasons fly by. With festival season getting into full gear and the days stretching ever-longer, the New Zealand group just picked up a gold-encrusted remix from NYC pop duo MS MR.

In this instance, ‘Hearts Like Ours’ retains Alisa Xayalith’s commanding vocals. But everything else is flipped inside out. Beginning with murky keys and a gloomy aesthetic, eventually this edit bursts into life, all with the assistance of a lifetime’s supply of reverb and chamber-like chords. It’s not a conventional summer-ready season commencer, but it’s most definitely arriving at the right time.
