Premiere: Listen: Parks, Squares And Alleys Shares ‘Forest’ Track

Russian native Sergei Khavro takes dreamy escape to previously unchartered zones with his Parks, Squares and Alleys project. Still very new to the scene, he pushes signature, super-cheery ideas through an emotional complex. The whole thing comes out sounding rinsed in melancholy, despite featuring, amongst other things, whistling.

It isn’t ‘Coming to a furniture store advert near you’ type-whistling that graces new track, ‘Forest’. Rather, there’s a fine line that Khavro tows. He skilfully matches conventional beach-pop aesthetics with downbeat lyrics - ‘we are waiting for a summer / that we never had’ - allowing the song to come off like a miserable kid’s summer holiday diary.
