Premiere: Listen: Plastic Mermaids Stream ‘Drømtorp’ Track From Debut EP
Isolation and complete seclusion win the day on the title-track from Plastic Mermaids’ debut EP.

As the romanticised story goes, Plastic Mermaids benefit from living off their own island just off the coast of England. One year away from the spotlight and muddling things like TV and the Buzzfeed helped coin a debut EP, a first work benefiting from near-complete seclusion.
And let’s face it, even if the above if pure fiction sold to bolster the beauty of ‘Drømtorp’, it serves a purpose. Songs are punctuated by sweet, serene moments of near-silence and vocals from veer close to over-emotional boundaries without going too far.
The title track from ‘Drømtorp’ is streaming now on DIY ahead of the EP’s 31st March release. Folk-led (but only in the very loosest sense), it’s a song neatly defined by occasional interjections of effect-drenched guitar and choral chants. If isolation gave Plastic Mermaids anything, it was an ability to think outside of convention and bring in surprising, curveball elements.
