Premiere: Watch: Mt. Royal Unveil ‘Missing Reward’ Video

Baltimore’s Mt. Royal are the newest edition to the Bella Union roster. Sitting alongside Fleet Foxes and Beach House, they’ll likely draw a fair few comparisons to the latter, but their debut video ‘Missing Reward’ is here to set the record straight.

First featured on DIY in Jan 2013, ‘Missing Reward’ is a track completely built around vocalist Katrina Ford, who also fronts Celebration. She’s the focus of this debut showing. ‘The idea for creating the video for ‘Missing Reward’ was to have something which connected the viewer directly with Katrina,’ explain the band.

‘In the earliest days of music television videos often had less cuts and more focus on the performers themselves.’

Throw in a glitter-ball and Mt. Royal have ended up with a video that channels a TOTP performance circa 1970; a stirring backing for a sound that’s resolutely modern.



Mt. Royal’s debut EP will gain release on 27th January via Bella Union.
