Premiere: Watch: Playlounge Air ‘Waves And Waves And Waves’ Video
playlounge offer up a grand escape in their Super 8-centric new video. Watch it first on DIY.

Sometimes found footage music videos can be like being forced to sit indoors and watch mind-numbingly dull clips of a distant relative’s recent holiday. ‘Look! That’s where we had dinner on the first night.’ Cool story, cheers. Hazy, shaky footage occasionally interjected with meaningless speech? No thanks.
But this one means something. On playlounge’s ‘waves and waves and waves’ video yes, the filming is shaky (it was put together by Saam Watkins’ housemate while at university, give him a break), but having the lyrics to the song helps. ‘Get up. Get up. Go,’ runs the track’s final rallying call, dragging mopey teens out of their bedrooms and into the sunlight. The video’s all about that too - finding escape in unlikely sources.
‘The song is about a getaway, but to something rather than from something,’ Saam says. ‘How it’s full of light, sonically and lyrically, and how it’s a fond reminisce of an adolescent heart.’
playlounge release debut album ‘pilot’ on 14th April through Dog Knights Productions (pre-order here). They begin a short UK tour with Nai Harvest tomorrow night, dates below the player.
