Confirmed
Radiohead are headlining Glastonbury 2017’s Friday night
After getting all Art Attack overnight, they’ve confirmed the spot with a picture of that big ol’ bear logo.
After teasing away, it’s confirmed - Radiohead are to headline Glastonbury’s Friday night next year.
Taking to Twitter (below), Glastonbury confirmed the news by posting a picture of that bear head logo that they were building all night. And very nice it looks too. They’ll be headlining the iconic Pyramid Stage on June 23rd.
Radiohead last performed at the festival in 2010, with a packed-out, not-so-surprise slot on the titchy Park Stage - their last official billing was as headliner way back in 2003. Next year marks the 20th anniversary of their lauded ‘OK Computer’ LP, so it’s fair to say it’s likely to be a special one.
Tickets to Glastonbury 2017 sold out in minutes, with a resale due to take place in the spring. Next year’s edition takes place between Wednesday 21st and Sunday 25th June, with other rumoured headliners including Daft Punk, The Stone Roses, Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran.
Glasto organiser Emily Eavis tells the BBC Radiohead are “about as good as it gets for me.” She continues: “They’re just in a league of their own aren’t they? Some of my happiest memories at the festival have been watching them play, from headlining in the rain 20 years ago when I was a teenager, to surprise sets in The Park and DJ’ing late night in Shangri-La. We are beyond excited that they’re finally coming back to the Pyramid, it’s incredibly special for everyone here.”
