London-based trio Real Lies have debuted their new single ‘World Peace’ on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show.

Taking the form of Lowe’s Hottest Record In The World, the track is based around an acidic nineties-indebted synth and a lyrical dedication of the track to “the sweetest thing I’ve ever known” – though it might be more of a grovelling vocal than that seemingly sweet sentiment may suggest. “We wrote it two years ago,” explained the band’s Tom Watson on the show. “Me and Kev were going out a bit too much and falling out with our girlfriends. It’s about coming home from a night out at 5am… you’ve had a good time with your mates, but you know at home you’re gonna be in trouble.”

‘World Peace’ follows on from Real Lies’ breakout double A-side single ‘North Circular / Dab Housing’. Earlier in the year Zane hand-picked Real Lies as one of his #Future15 acts, pinning them for big things in the new year – a decision he described as “an absolute no brainer.” ‘World Peace’ is released 5th January, with Real Lies’ debut record out “March, April time,” according to Watson.
