Red Hot Chili Peppers are working with Danger Mouse on a new album

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ new album is set to be produced by Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse.

Separate to his work on Broken Bells and following his production role for U2’s ‘Songs of Innocence’, Burton’s been hired to put together the follow-up to the Chili Peppers’ ‘I’m With You’, their first release since 2011.

The news emerged in a tweet from bassist Flea, that’s since been deleted (reports CoS). This’ll be the first RHCP LP not to feature Rick Rubin at the desk since 1989’s ‘Mother’s Milk’.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in December 2014, drummer Chad Smith said: “We’ve written and recorded in a way that we’ve never done before, so the record is going great. We all have high hopes that it’s going to take off and we’re going to do something very different and unique for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

At the time, Smith cited an “unnamed producer who is really challenging us to find new ways to come up with new music” - said producer’s just been revealed.
