Royal Blood give update on their second album

It’ll come out “when it sounds amazing,” apparently.

Royal Blood have given an update on progress towards their second album. The duo’s self-titled debut flew straight to number one in the UK albums charts, and a year on Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher teased brand new song ‘Hook, Line and Sinker’ during a momentous set on Reading and Leeds’ main stage. They’ve also confirmed that more writing is currently underway in their touring bus “writing den”.

Speaking to NME, Royal Blood’s Mike Kerr said that he has “built a studio in the back of our bus. It’s very hard to write when everything keeps falling over because the driver’s taken a massive corner. It was our writing den - we’d have Clint Eastwood movies playing with the volume down.”

Referring to how album two might sound, the band simply said they didn’t see the need to “reinvent the wheel”. When asked about potential timelines for a second record, Mike Kerr said that Royal Blood won’t be releasing anything until “it sounds amazing.” There you go, then.
