Ryan Adams plays new material at Newport Folk Fest

‘My Wrecking Ball’ will feature on Adams’ self-titled album.

Newport Folk Festival is probably most famous for hosting Dylan ‘going electric’ back in the 60s - but this weekend the Rhode Island city hosts appearances from the likes of Jack White, Kurt Vile, Conor Oberst, Jenny Lewis - and Friday’s headliner, Ryan Adams.

Adams used his set to tease material from his forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for release this September, as well as a mix of old favourites such as ‘Come Pick Me Up’ and ‘Oh My Sweet Carolina’, as well as a cover of Danzig’s ‘Mother’.

One of those new numbers was ‘My Wrecking Ball’, which can be watched below via (beware!) fan-filmed footage. A full recording of his set can be streamed at NPR.

‘Ryan Adams’ is released on 8th September.
