Sam Smith airs striking new ‘Lay Me Down’ video
Alongside director Ryan Hope, Smith is showcasing “something we passionately believe in.”
Sam Smith has unveiled a new video for his ‘Lay Me Down’ single, in turn calling for those of any sex and gender to be permitted by law to marry in a church.
Directed by Ryan Hope, the clip sees Smith standing by the alter, being newly-wed in the presence of friends.
Alongside the video, Sam Smith posted the following message:
“With this video myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in. This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country.”
“This song holds a very dear place in my heart,” he says.
