Sam Smith cancels Australian tour
Doctors discover the singer has a haemorrhage on his vocal chords.
Sam Smith has cancelled the rest of his remaining Australian tour, due to a haemorrhage on his vocal chords.
Smith performed at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Monday evening before discovering the problem highlighted by a doctor’s trip. Smith said of the cancellation:
“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small haemorrhage on my vocal chords. The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me.”
The dates affected include the performances in Sydney (28/04), Melbourne (30/04), Adelaide (01/05), and Perth (04/05). Frontier Touring - who act as Smith’s promoters in Australia - state that a new tour is to be rescheduled for December 2015.
