Sampha delivers an ode to childhood on ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano’
It’s the latest from his long-awaited debut album ‘Process’.
It’s only a couple of weeks before Sampha finallys drops his debut album ‘Process’ and he’s given us a glimpse into his creative workings on his new track.
‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano’ is an ode to his own childhood piano, which has been in his family home since he was three. Since he also wrote most of ‘Process’ on it, it seems fitting to pay tribute to the instrument. Fittingly, the whole track is almost nothing but melancholic keys and Sampha’s own soulful voice (but if you listen really, really hard you can hear some faint atmospheric synths in the background). It’s pretty far removed from the hectic nature of ‘Timmy’s Prayer’, but is still hauntingly beautiful. Better have a hankie at the ready.
