SASAMI recruits Soccer Mommy for new rendition of ‘Just Be Friends’

Having dropped her stellar latest album ‘Blood On The Silver Screen’ earlier this year, SASAMI has now treated us to a brand new version of LP highlight ‘Just Be Friends’, this time featuring none other than indie fave Soccer Mommy.

“When I was working on ‘Blood On the Silver Screen’, I found myself returning to country often,” SASAMI has shared, explaining more about her vision for the remixed track. “I listened to Dolly, Johnny, Patsy, Merle and even a lot of the modern country that I had previously dismissed. Country songs have to be some of the most effective and cutting examples of peak pop songwriting - wit, drama, humour, sadness, and the most human of all - horniness.” 

She decided that in order for ‘Just Be Friends’ “to be truly authentic”, she’d have to team up with someone else - and who better than “an actual Southern princess”. In SASAMI’s words: “this new version featuring Soccer Mommy, pedal steel and all, delivers on the country magic that I had always wished could be in that song. That’s the best part about collaboration, all hat all cattle.”
