Shamir drops new mixtape on Annie Nightingale Show

BBC Sound of 2015 nominee drops pop-influenced tape.

Rising newcomer Shamir was recently asked by Annie Nightingale to contribute a mixtape for her BBC Show, which was aired on the radio last night. Nightingale has been a major fan of the LA musician, having regularly played Shamir’s best known track ‘On The Regular’ on air during her shows on BBC Radio 1.

Introducing the tape himself, Shamir Bailey talks of his output since releasing his debut EP ’Northtown’ on XL Recordings. Confirming that he’s been recording sessions for his debut album in New York, he says the mixtape acts as a preview for an eventual debut LP. Using house as his musical glue, the mix takes of tracks from La Roux, Prince and Marina and the Diamonds, through a 30 minute trip of pop and R&B.

Listen to the mixtape over on the BBC’s website and read the tracklist below:

Prince - Head
Mary Jane Girls - Boys
Peaches - Lovertits
The B-52s - Mesopotamia
La Roux - Uptight Downtown
Tiga - Bugatti
Robyn - Don’t Tell Me What To Do

Moto - Your Love
