Shamir shares new track, ‘Our Song’
He’ll also be heading out on tour in support of the record later this year.
Shamir has today released his latest single, ‘Our Song’, along with an accompanying video celebrating his band’s bond with each other. The track arrives ahead of the release of his ninth album ‘Homo Anxietatem’ on 18th August, which will also be his first for US label Kill Rock Stars.
Recorded and produced by Hoost (the professional moniker of Justin Tailor, whose collaborators include Rina Sawayama), the album came to life in his Hackney studio. It marks a departure from Shamir’s previous heavier records, instead showcasing his aptitude for infectious alt-pop.
Discussing ‘Our Song’, Shamir says: “It took about three months to write this song, which is the longest it’s ever taken me to write a song. The music video is a love letter to my band. Grant Pavol and Rhea Freed are the only reason I still play live. I wanted the video to focus on the three of us as a band”.
Shamir will also be heading out on a tour of the UK and Europe in support of the record, playing the following venues later this year:

02 Paris, Supersonic Festival
04 Brighton, Green Door Store
05 Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach
