Maybe it's Mabel-line?
Shura remixes Mabel’s ‘My Boy My Town’
The newcomer’s slow-burner gets a garage-flavoured reworking.
London-based newcomer and daughter of Neneh Cherry, Mabel, has been steadily making waves with her slow-burning story-telling, blending a diverse mish-mash of varying influences together into a soul-filled soup. Her debut track ‘Know Me Better’ came out back in July Now Shura has reworked Mabel’s second release ‘My Boy My Town’.
If Burial hit play on this, he’d be pranging out and taking mysterious selfies all over the shop within seconds - Shura’s reworking does away with the original’s pulsing balladry, and trades it in for a gloomy, reflective-drunken-moment-on-the-nightbus take on garage.
Besides the accolade of sharing a name with the greatest Blue Peter pet of all time (R.I.P) Mabel (the musician, not the dog) also landed a nod in the Beeb’s Sound of 2016 poll last month. Listen to Shura’s remix below.
