Rat Boy, Jack Garratt, Nao announced for BBC Sound of 2016 longlist
Fifteen acts have been tipped for next year, with a winner announced in January.
The BBC Sound of 2016 longlist has been announced, with fifteen acts being tipped for success by 140 music industry-types.
Jack Garratt - recent winner of the Brits Critics’ Choice 2016, another new music-centric prize - has made the longlist.
He’s joined by Essex troublemaker Rat Boy and U.S. superstar-in-waiting Alessia Cara.
19-year-old Mabel - daughter of Neneh Cherry - has also made the list, alongside fellow pop newcomers Dua Lipa and Frances.
North London rapper Loyle Carner and pop experimentalist Nao are other standout names, with Izzy Bizu, J Hus and Blossoms also featuring.
Check out the full BBC Sound of 2016 longlist in full below. The top five will be announced from 4th January on BBC Radio 1, with a winner named on Friday 8th January.
